Monique Carole: Wellness Tips for A Morning Routine to kickstart the Body & Mind for the day:

Firstly, I recommend getting quality sleep between the most powerful body healing hours of 10pm and 4pm with a 12 hour fasting period over this time. i.e. 6pm to 6am. Secondly, check with your medical practitioner that the following methods and products are suitable for your body.

I like this routine to get me warmed up, fueled, hydrated and fired up for the day:

Upon waking: Gentle breathwork, movement and stretches in bed to get the neck, ankles, knees and hips mobile and the chi energy flowing.

Oil Pulling: Used primarily in Ayurvedic medicine, it is a powerful oral detoxification – Keep next to your bed so whilst doing your bed stretches, take a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth, and gently moving it around for 5-20 minutes – which sucks out the fat-soluble toxins that form in your mouth during sleep and turns your mouth into a clean, antiseptic oral environment. Therefore helps to clean the teeth, prevent bad breath and gingivitis, bleeding gums, cracked lips, throat dryness, tooth decay to help strengthen the gums, jaw and teeth.

Aloe Vera Gel: Swig 30-60mls pre-breakfast. It is rich with vitamins and minerals, is a natural anti-inflammatory, has antiviral properties, anti-aging fibroblasts and other essential nutrients to improve skin health, and assists in healthy digestion and natural energy levels. By drinking Aloe Vera Gel the intestines / bowel is able to absorb nutrients more efficiently and naturally improving bowel function.

Smart’n’Sassy Essential Oil blend: Grapefruit, Lemon, Ginger, Peppermint & Cinnamon: Stir 1 drop in a full glass of filtered room temperature water.
Helps kick start the metabolism, assists with weight loss, as well as cleanses, soothes, hydrates and energises the body. Great after a big night out! Can also assist with cellulite when applied with a quality carrier oil on areas of concern. When inhaled it can curb food cravings and promote a positive mood. Apply to soles of feet to stimulate the lymphatic system and help with inflammation issues.

Morning movement with therapeutic breathwork to warm up the body and calm the mind: i.e. Yoga / Tibetan Rites routine / Qi gong / Pilates / stretches / walking / bike riding / paddle-boarding.

Breakfast Muesli mix: I like to activate overnight a blend of some of these delicious superfoods: oats, walnuts, almonds, hemp or chia or flax seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds / buckinis and/or buckwheat as well as some medicinal additions like maca powder, teff, ashwanda. Add some apple /sultanas / plum / pear / grapes /orange /kiwifruit /berries /banana / passionfruit (whatever is in season) – and topped off with organic natural Greek yoghurt and a healthy sprinkling of quality sri-lankan cinnamon.

 

Daily Exercises for general overall wellbeing and healthy aging:

Building core strength helps you to stay strong, improve your balance and stability to prevent falls, keeps you supported to avoid injuries and pain, protects your musculoskeletal system against wear and tear and promotes good posture and a toned body frame. This can also enhance your confidence and allows you to breathe deeply. Your core midsection muscles include your abdominals, trunk, back, hip, and pelvis muscles,

I highly recommend a variety of strengthening Pilates core exercises and stretches done correctly with controlled movements and breathwork.

 

Other Therapeutic Morning Health Tonics:

> Honey + Cinnamon + Apple Cider Vinegar Health Tonic:

– fill a glass with warm or room temp filtered, spring or mineral water
– add 1 drop of Lemon Essential Oil or squeeze in half a lemon.
– add 1 teaspoon of raw organic apple cider vinegar
 
Note: Ingredients must be raw and organic. Raw honey means it has not been pasteurized and still contains the active cultures that support your gut health and bolster your immune system and organic honey implies the bees have not pollinated flowers or plants which are treated with pesticides, etc. Organic produce means they have not been coated in pesticides, heavy metals and toxins, which would then pass into your system and be counter-productive. Make sure your apple cider vinegar is raw organic and unfiltered.
